Helen Walsh is a novelist, screenwriter and producer. Her first novel, Pull Focus, was named to KIRKUS’s Best of 2022 Mysteries & Thrillers List, saying: Two thumbs up for action, suspense, and lust…a taut, thrilling literary novel. It was also included in many year-end/best-of lists.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY said, [An] accomplished thriller debut […] Walsh’s expert knowledge of the film industry, the corporate world, and the ruthlessness of players in both adds arresting verisimilitude to this novel. Great for fans of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s Malibu Rising.”
In her screenwriting, Walsh specializes in murdering people and making audiences laugh – sometimes in the same project. Her scripts have been finalists in several TV writing competitions including Austin Film Festival, Table Read My Screenplay (LA and Cannes), Outstanding Screenplays and Shore Scripts. And also in the Top 3% of projects on Coverly and been featured in their Top 20 and Red Lists.
Walsh also publishes a popular Substack newsletter, Letterbox: Bookish & Filmish and is founder of the literary mentoring organization Diaspora Dialogues. Previously she was a magazine publisher, festival director and film producer, including with production company Anonymous Content. For a decade, she attended the G7 summits as accredited media, tracking issues including the transnational crime ones explored in her writing.
DEATH AND THE GLITTERATI is inspired by Walsh’s upcoming second novel, That Type of Power, whose plot mirrors season 1. Both novel and TV series are based on characters introduced in the prequel novel, Pull Focus.
